Legal Learning

Announcing the Lawtrepreneur Learning Community (coming January 2021)
The coronavirus has exposed the reality that majority of legal professionals needs new non-legal skills to remain relevant in the modern economy. Many of these skills are not taught in law schools. They certainly aren't taught by the majority of employers. The fact is while most lawyers and the legal profession need some form of training to remain relevant in the digital economy, finding that training can seem impossible.
That's where the Lawtrepreneur Learning Community comes in.
Connecting forward thinking lawyers with the experience and wisdom of instructors committed to the modernization of legal practice, the Lawtrepreneur Learning Community sparks new conversations and creates new relationships critical to the transformation of the legal profession. We believe these conversations and relationships are critical to a lawyer’s ability to practice efficiently, deliver more value to clients and lead a more balanced life.
While the Lawtrepreneur Learning Community will launch in January 2021, we'll be providing beta access to the Community in December to our email list.

Announcing Gravity Legal as a Founding Sponsor of the Lawtrepreneur Community!
We are also pleased to announce that Gravity Legal has agreed to be a Founding Sponsor of the Lawtrepreneur Learning Community.
Gravity Legal is a subsidiary of Gravity Payments, a Seattle based company focused on helping lawyers accept and manage client funds. You might better know Gravity Payments from the publicity around its founder establishing a $70,000 minimum wage.
In any case, there are lots of synergies between Gravity Legal and the Lawtrepreneur Learning Community and I can't wait to talk about them in the next digest (hint: it may have something to do with Legal Services as a Subscription).
Legal Technology

Getting Beyond The Tech in Legal Tech
Contrary to the current zeitgeist, technology is not the magic bullet some in the profession think it is. In this article by Mark Cohen talks through why technology is in fact a cultural compact to align with clients/customers, create and support an agile workforce, embrace diversity, pursue lifelong learning and constant improvement, collaborate, and focus on the customer.
Mental Health
4 Ways to Soften Loneliness — Calm Blog
With Toronto going back into lockdown, I thought of including this article in the digest.
While we may live in an age where everything is done via texts and other e-messages, hearing the voice of a friend or family member remains important for our mental health. If you are feeling lonely, don't hesitate to reach out and call someone. If that is not an option, try meditating using a service like Calm, Aura or Headspace.
